50th Anniversary Celebration
for
To Kill a Mockingbird
$10 tickets go on sale Tues., June 29
Harvard Book Store and the Brattle Theatre are excited to team up for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Harper Lee′s classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird. The evening will begin with a panel discussion of To Kill a Mockingbird, including its publication history, censorship issues, and its lasting cultural and literary heritage. For much of its existence, Harper Lee′s only novel has been a mainstay of both high school reading lists and banned books lists. Our panelists will explore its unique place in the literary landscape. After the discussion, there will be a screening of the 1962 film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck. A classic in its own right, the film gives yet another perspective on the novel and its time. Please note: $10 tickets include both the discussion and the film screening, and can only be purchased through Harvard Book Store.
